Video and telemetry
Record or import video, align a ride, arrange dashboard instruments, trim and export an MP4. Android storage and iPhone projects.
The video editor puts recorded ride readings over your video: speed, PWM, current and other available instruments. You can prepare a clip after the ride, without connecting the wheel. You need both a video and the telemetry for the relevant ride; importing a video does not create missing wheel readings.
Open Video editor from the garage's main menu. On Android, the dashboard menu entry is Video recordings and opens the recording library; on iPhone, Video editor opens a list of video projects.
A first clip#
- Record a ride in LoEUC, or import a ride you already have.
- Import a video. On Android, choose the matching ride before opening the editor; on iPhone, open the imported project and choose its ride.
- In Sync, find the same event in the video and telemetry, then tap Align these moments.
- In Tiles, add and arrange the instruments you want viewers to see.
- In Trim, select the start and end of the clip.
- Tap Export, choose a profile, then save or share the finished MP4.
A stop, a clear acceleration or braking event makes a better alignment reference than steady motion. Play the result in the preview before exporting.
Recording with the Android camera#
From the dashboard's video library, tap Record. The garage's editor lets you import and edit existing videos; it does not start a camera recording. The iPhone editor currently imports video rather than recording it inside LoEUC.
The Android camera needs a live wheel connection and an active ride. It cannot record while a dump is being replayed. Allow camera access; audio recording also needs microphone access. The sound switch starts enabled, but denying microphone access switches it off; you can still record a silent video.
LoEUC uses the rear camera and requests Full HD, with a fallback to an available quality if the phone cannot provide it. You can arrange instruments on the camera preview before recording. The recording keeps the camera image and telemetry separately, so the final instruments and trim can be changed afterwards.
Start and stop with the recording button. Leaving the camera screen or sending the app to the background stops recording. Critical overheating or low free disk space also stops it. Recording requires at least 2 GB free on the storage volume; that reserve is checked while filming too.
Android library and storage#
The library shows recordings newest first, with the date, wheel, duration and size. Tap an entry to edit it; hold it to open the removal confirmation. Imported entries carry an import label.
The storage card shows how much the app's own recordings occupy. The limit is 8 GB by default and can be set from 1 to 64 GB. When the limit is exceeded, the oldest completed app recordings are removed. Lowering the limit can therefore delete old recordings immediately. The recording currently in progress is protected from this cleanup; the limit is not a fixed maximum length for one recording.
Imported originals do not count towards this limit and are never removed by it. The bulk action for deleting raw recordings removes completed recordings made by LoEUC, after confirmation; it does not remove imported originals.
Recordings made by LoEUC stay in its private storage until you export them. They do not appear in the phone's gallery automatically, and uninstalling the app removes them. Export clips you want to keep before clearing the library or uninstalling.
Importing a camera video#
Android: tap Import, choose a video with the system file picker, then select a ride. Rides matching the estimated filming time appear first; the full list remains available. That suggestion is only a starting point: camera clocks and file dates can be wrong. If no ride matches, choose the right one yourself.
Android reads the selected original without making a private video copy. Keep that file available where you selected it. If the source is removed or its provider no longer grants access, choose the file again. Removing an imported entry only forgets its link in LoEUC; it does not delete the original.
iPhone: choose Import video for Files or Import from Photos. Import makes a private copy and creates a project. Wait for reading, downloading from Photos/iCloud or copying to finish, then open the project and choose a ride. The operation shows its stage, progress where available and a Cancel button. Cancelling leaves the original in place.
For raw panoramic camera files such as .insv or .360, first export a normal flat
video in the camera manufacturer's app, then import that result. A video that the phone
cannot read or play must be converted or replaced before editing.
Aligning video with the ride#
The editor has a video timeline with thumbnails and telemetry charts for speed, PWM and current. Android prefers battery current for this chart; iPhone prefers bus current. Both fall back to phase current. Zoom into the timelines to identify a precise event; the whole-ride view helps find it in a longer recording.
For an imported video:
- Move the video cursor to an event you recognise in the picture.
- Move the telemetry cursor to that same event on the charts.
- Tap Align these moments. The cursors now move together.
- Fine-tune with ±1 s and ±0.1 s while watching the instruments in the preview.
Use Change alignment to choose a different pair of moments. Every imported video has its own alignment: a previous camera's correction is not applied automatically. On iPhone, Source time and offset also lets you correct the first-frame date and enter an offset in seconds. Export on iPhone becomes available after choosing a ride and confirming alignment.
A recording made by LoEUC on Android already shares the telemetry clock, so it does not need manual alignment. An instrument needs readings recorded for that time; choosing another display style cannot recover a sensor that was not recorded.
Choosing and arranging instruments#
Open Tiles, tap + Instrument, and choose a metric available in the recording. These are the same kinds of instruments as on the dashboard, including numeric readings, charts, bars and grouped instruments.
Select an instrument on the picture or in the list, then drag it to a clear area of the frame. The controls let you change its display mode and size, choose a colour where supported, and adjust background opacity. Use + Metric to group to combine compatible readings in one instrument; remove extra group members individually, or use Delete to remove the whole instrument.
Video layouts are separate from the riding dashboard. Portrait and landscape layouts are remembered separately, so arranging a vertical clip does not replace the layout for a horizontal one. Available metrics depend on the selected recording, not only on what the wheel can report today.
Trimming a clip#
In Trim, choose the start and end and check the resulting duration. Trimming selects what goes into the exported file; it does not cut the original video.
On Android, drag the timeline's two trim handles. Alert markers, when present, let you jump to an event and select a roughly 20-second window around it. These markers are calculated from the recorded telemetry with the current alert settings; they are not a saved list of sounds heard on the ride. Clips longer than ten minutes show a rendering time notice, but can still be exported.
On iPhone, adjust the start and end sliders or use Start at this frame and End at this frame. Reset trim returns to the whole video. The project remembers its trim along with alignment and instruments. Android remembers alignment and instrument layouts, but opens the trim selection across the full recording again.
Export profiles and HDR#
Export renders the chosen fragment with instruments into a new MP4, keeping source audio when there is an audio track. The profiles describe the intended output; choosing Telegram or YouTube does not upload anything to that service.
| Profile | Result |
|---|---|
| Telegram | H.264, SDR, up to Full HD / 1080p, for convenient sharing. |
| YouTube | Original resolution and frame rate. |
| For editing | Original resolution and frame rate, with a high-quality output setting. Android uses a higher bitrate than the YouTube profile. |
For an HDR source, YouTube and For editing offer Preserve HDR, using HEVC. SDR export uses H.264. Telegram converts HDR to SDR. On Android, a phone unable to export HEVC/HDR falls back to SDR and reports the conversion. On iPhone, if the HDR export cannot be completed, choose Telegram to try a compatible SDR output.
During export the app shows the stage and progress, with cancellation. Leave enough free space for the finished file as well as the source. If export fails, read the reason, free space or try a more compatible profile, then retry.
Android: the completed clip is saved to the gallery. The result offers Share, which opens the phone's usual app chooser. The library switch for deleting raw footage after export is off by default. If enabled, it removes only LoEUC's own recording, only after the clip is successfully saved to the gallery. You cannot make another cut from that deleted recording. Failed or cancelled export does not trigger this removal; imported originals are never deleted by the switch.
iPhone: use Share / save video after export and choose a destination in the system share sheet. Export does not delete the project or its imported copy. You can reopen the project to make another version.
Deleting and keeping your work#
On Android, holding a library entry asks whether to delete a LoEUC recording or forget an imported video. Deleting a ride can also remove its associated LoEUC recordings when the library cleans up entries for missing rides; imported originals remain untouched.
On iPhone, swipe a project and choose Delete, then confirm. This removes the project and LoEUC's imported copy. The source in Photos or Files stays in place.
Videos and editor projects are not part of the LoEUC ride backup. Keep source videos and exported clips separately if you want to move them to another phone or retain them after removing the app.
